Workers’ Compensation/Disfigurement

In order to be compensable, an injured workers’ disfigurement, usually scarring, must be serious and permanent to the hand, head, face, neck, arm, leg below the knee or chest above the axillary line. These specified parts of the body for which recovery may be had are the same for men and women. “Disfigurement” is defined as that which impairs or injures the beauty, symmetry, or appearance of a person; that which renders unsightly, misshapen or imperfect or deforms in some manner. Disfigurement is not a true disability but a cosmetic impairment.
